How does it work?

As we age, the functions of our cells get a little lazy and don't operate at the same level. When Polynucleotides are injected under the surface of the skin, they give your cells energy to perform all of these functions like producing collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

Polynucleotides are DNA polymers which are advanced biostimuating agents. Injecting them under the surface of the skin leads to more structural support in the second layer of skin and therefore treating and preventing the formation of lines and wrinkles. It is especially effective in the lower face area, the under eye and the neck. It produces a longterm result restoring the overall quality, tightness and smoothness of your skin. The procedure involves microinjections delivered into targeted areas, such as eyes, lower face and neck allowing for precise and effective treatment.

Polynucleotides can also be used in the scalp to help rejuvenate hair follicles, promoting healthier and stronger hair growth, especially in areas with thinning hair.  They help with scalp hydration, reduce inflammation, and improve blood circulation, creating a healthier environment for hair follicles.

At KINS we offer a Signature Protocol combining Lumecca IPL, Polynucleotides and Dermalux Tri-Wave LED. This is an advanced skincare approach aimed at improving overall skin appearance, rejuvenation, and specific concerns like pigmentation, texture, and ageing and is a powerful and holistic treatment for skin rejuvenation.

FAQs

What do polynucleotides do?
  • Cell Regeneration:

    • Polynucleotides are made of nucleotide chains, which are the building blocks of DNA and RNA. In skin treatments, they stimulate cell repair and regeneration, encouraging damaged skin cells to heal and regenerate.
    • They support the formation of new tissue by enhancing cellular activity, which helps improve the appearance of ageing skin, scars, and sun-damaged skin.
  • Promote Collagen Production:

    • Polynucleotides help stimulate collagen synthesis, which is essential for maintaining skin structure, firmness, and elasticity. Increased collagen production leads to smoother, firmer skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Hydration and Skin Elasticity:

    • Polynucleotides help improve skin hydration by attracting moisture, which helps the skin appear more plump and hydrated.
    • They also improve skin elasticity, making the skin look more youthful and toned.
  • Skin Rejuvenation: Reduces signs of ageing by promoting collagen and skin cell regeneration.
  • Hydration: Attracts moisture, leading to plump, hydrated skin.
  • Scar Healing: Helps improve the appearance of scars, including acne and surgical scars.
  • Improved Skin Tone and Texture: Enhances overall skin quality, making it smoother and more even.
  • Anti-Inflammatory: Reduces redness and irritation, promoting healing and calming the skin.
  • Individuals with Signs of Ageing: Those showing signs of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity who want to rejuvenate and firm the skin.

  • Patients with Skin Texture or Tone Issues: People seeking to improve uneven skin texture and dull skin tone.

  • Individuals with Acne Scarring: Those with post-acne scars or skin imperfections looking to reduce their appearance.

  • People with Sun-Damaged Skin: Individuals who have sun spots, sun damage, or uneven pigmentation from prolonged sun exposure.

  • Individuals Seeking Hydrated Skin: Those with dry or dehydrated skin wanting a plumper, more hydrated appearance.

  • Patients with Poor Skin Elasticity: Those experiencing loose, sagging skin or a loss of skin firmness due to ageing or weight fluctuations.

  • Individuals Looking for Non-Surgical Treatments: Those who prefer non-invasive options for skin rejuvenation, avoiding surgery or injections like Botox and fillers.

Polynucleotides promote collagen synthesis and skin regeneration, leading to smoother and more youthful-looking skin. It also helps to target dark circles and laxity around the eyes giving you a fresher and healthier glow.

Polynucleotides are injected into the skin using a small needle or a cannula. We target the areas of laxity when injecting the polynucleotides. Numbing cream is available pre procedure if needed. The procedure is very quick and feels like a bee-sting.

Downtime is for a few days post procedure. You will have small bumps under the skin where the product is injected. These take an average of 2-5 days to be absorbed but this can be longer for some people. There is also a potential for a bruise, a small bit of swelling and redness around the area treated.

You can expect to start seeing results from polyneucleotides within 2 to 4 weeks, but the full effects typically develop over a longer period.

  1. 2 to 4 Weeks:

    • Initial improvements in skin hydration and smoothness. You may notice your skin feeling plumper and more hydrated shortly after the treatment.
  2. 4 to 8 Weeks:

    • Collagen production begins to kick in, leading to noticeable improvements in skin texture, tone, and elasticity. Fine lines and wrinkles may start to appear less prominent.
  3. 2 to 3 Months:

    • Full effects from collagen stimulation and skin regeneration will become more apparent. This includes significant improvements in skin firmness, hydration, and a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

Ongoing Maintenance:

  • After the initial set of treatments, 1 to 2 maintenance sessions per year are generally recommended to sustain the results and continue promoting collagen production.
  • This can vary based on how your skin responds to the treatment and your aesthetic goals.

Factors Affecting Maintenance Frequency:

  • Age and Skin Condition: Older skin or more damaged skin may need more frequent sessions initially.
  • Lifestyle Factors: If you’re exposed to sun regularly, have a smoking habit, or have a harsh skincare routine, you might need more frequent sessions.
  • Desired Results: If you’re aiming for more dramatic results, you may opt for more frequent maintenance.

Polyneucleotides are advanced  bio-stimulating agents which work by ‘waking up’ our collagen and elastin producing cells and getting them to function more efficiently. We would recommend getting 2-4 sessions initially depending on your skin needs.

  • Initial Results: You may notice improvements in skin hydration, texture, and elasticity within a few weeks to a month.
  • Full Results: Collagen stimulation and more noticeable skin rejuvenation generally take 2 to 3 months to develop fully.
  • Maintenance: After the initial treatment, maintenance sessions every 4 to 6 months may be needed to maintain optimal results.

Signature protocol: We use a layering approach by combining Lumecca IPL, Polynucleotides and Dermalux Tri-Wave LED. When done together these treatments compliment each other to achieve better results as we are targeting different layers and skin concerns in one go. Another benefit of combining treatments is there is only one period of downtime. The LED post procedure speeds up healing and recovery minimising downtime even more.

Polynucleotides + AWI: Polynucleotides can be combined with antiwrinkle injections to allow us target both upper and lower face/neck.

Profhilo + Polynucleotides: Profhilo and polynucleotides work well together to target layer 2. Profhilo helps boost our sponge layer and provide intense rehydration, while polynucleotides act by energising our collagen and elastin producing cells and creating structural support in that sponge. This combination is particularly suited to people with laxity and dehydrated skin.

At Kins we love combining treatments as it means you can achieve more impactful results. This is also of benefit when life is busy as less appointments are needed and there is only one period of downtime.

Contraindications for polynucleotides can include but are not limited to:

  1. Active Skin Infections:

    • Individuals with active infections (e.g., herpes simplex, bacterial skin infections) in the treatment area should avoid polyneucleotides until the infection has healed.
  2. Active Cancer:

    • Those currently undergoing cancer treatment or with active cancer should avoid polyneucleotide treatments, especially in areas with cancerous lesions.
  3. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:

    • It is generally advised to avoid polyneucleotides during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to a lack of sufficient safety data regarding their use in these conditions.
  4. Blood Disorders:

    • Individuals with bleeding disorders (e.g., haemophilia, thrombocytopenia) or those on blood-thinning medications (e.g., aspirin, anticoagulants) may not be suitable candidates for polyneucleotide therapy due to the risk of bleeding or bruising.
  5. Severe Allergies to Components:

    • People with known allergies or hypersensitivity to salmon/trout or other components used in the treatment should avoid polyneucleotides.
  6. Immunocompromised Individuals:

    • Individuals with weakened immune systems (e.g., HIV, autoimmune disorders) should consult a healthcare professional before undergoing treatment due to potential risks in healing.
  7. Uncontrolled Diabetes:

    • People with poorly controlled diabetes may have impaired healing, so it’s recommended to stabilize blood sugar levels before considering polyneucleotide treatments.
  8. Active Inflammatory Skin Conditions:

    • People with active inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea may need to avoid polyneucleotides during flare-ups, as the treatment could irritate the skin.
  9. Recent Surgery or Trauma in the Area:

    • It’s generally not recommended to perform polyneucleotide therapy over fresh scars, wounds, or recent surgical sites without proper healing time
