How does it work?
Carboxytherapy is the therapeutic use of CO2.
CO2 Delivery through the Mask: As the mask is placed on your face, the CO2 is absorbed transdermally through the skin (without the need for injections), allowing the gas to penetrate the skin’s surface.
Physiological Response : The presence of CO2 in the skin decreases the local oxygen levels. The body compensates for this by increasing oxygen delivery to the treated area. Blood vessels dilate, allowing more blood, oxygen, and nutrients to flow to the skin, which helps to rejuvenate and refresh the skin.
Increased Oxygenation and Circulation: With enhanced circulation, the skin receives more oxygen and nutrients, improving its overall health, tone, and radiance. This also leads to improved blood flow to the skin, which helps nourish the skin cells, encourage skin repair, and enhance skin elasticity.
Stimulation of Collagen and Elastin Production: The increased oxygen supply encourages the production of collagen and elastin, proteins that are essential for maintaining skin structure, firmness, and elasticity. This helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin, making the skin appear smoother and more youthful.
Detoxification and Skin Repair: The enhanced circulation and oxygenation also aid in detoxifying the skin by improving lymphatic drainage and helping remove waste products and toxins from the skin. It can also accelerate the healing of acne scars, pigmentation, and other skin imperfections by promoting cellular regeneration.
Hydration and Skin Rejuvenation: The increased blood flow and oxygenation boost hydration, making the skin appear plump and refreshed. It increases the skins hydration by >117%.
The CO2 mask is recommended for very dry damaged skin including skin post procedures like Morpheus8 and microneedling.

FAQs
What happens during treatment?
The face is cleansed and a thick gel mask is applied to the skin. This mask can be used over eyelids, mouth and neck if desired. It is removed after 40mins. A Carboxytherapy face mask works by infusing carbon dioxide into the skin, triggering increased blood circulation and oxygenation. This results in enhanced skin texture, improved collagen production, better hydration, and overall skin rejuvenation. The mask helps brighten the complexion, smooths fine lines, reduces puffiness, and can assist in detoxifying the skin, leaving it looking more youthful and radiant.
How many treatments will be required?
The number of Carboxytherapy face mask treatments required can vary depending on individual skin goals, concerns, and the condition of your skin
Some people notice improvements after just one treatment, including brighter, more radiant skin and increased hydration.
Alternatively 4-6 sessions are recommended for optimal results. These sessions are usually spaced 1-2 weeks apart to allow the skin to respond to the treatment and begin showing improvements. Here at KINS we often pair this with our Demalux triwave LED MD to optimise results.
Full results, such as noticeable improvements in skin tone, texture, and firmness, become evident after the full course of treatments.
How quickly will I see results?
The results from a Carboxytherapy face mask can be quite noticeable quickly, with many individuals experiencing improvements after just one session.
Immediate Results (After 1 Treatment):
- Instant Glow: Many people notice a brighter, more radiant complexion almost immediately after the treatment due to improved blood circulation and oxygenation.
- Hydration: Skin often feels plumper and more hydrated right after the treatment, as the mask boosts moisture levels in the skin.
- Smoother Texture: The skin can feel smoother and softer immediately, with a visible reduction in surface dryness or rough patches.
Short-Term Results (Within 1-2 Days):
- Refreshed Look: Within a couple of days, the skin continues to look more rejuvenated and refreshed as circulation improves and oxygen levels increase.
- Reduction in Puffiness: If the treatment is done around the eye area, you may notice a reduction in puffiness and dark circles in the short term.
Longer-Term Results (After 4-6 Sessions):
- Improved Skin Tone and Texture: After a series of treatments (usually 4-6), more significant changes occur, including more even skin tone, reduced fine lines, and improved texture.
- Collagen Boost: Collagen production takes time, so the full benefits of increased skin firmness and elasticity may be more noticeable after several sessions.
- Skin Rejuvenation: The overall appearance of the skin continues to improve, with enhanced radiance, reduced pigmentation, and a more youthful glow.
Is downtime required?
No, there is typically no downtime after a CO2 mask treatment. One of the main advantages of this treatment is that it is non-invasive and requires minimal recovery time. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure.
How long do results last?
- Immediate results (like radiance and hydration) typically last 1-3 days.
- Long-term results (collagen stimulation, smoothness, and elasticity) can last 2-3 months after a series of treatments, with maintenance treatments recommended to preserve these effects.
- If used to treat an impaired/broken skin barrier, eg eczema the mask will help healing and inflamation but will not prevent another flare up. It can be used to treat impaired skin barrier function as needed during winter months when skin is more fragile and in need of TLC.
What issues does this treat?
1. Aging and Fine Lines: Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles: By stimulating collagen and elastin production, the mask helps improve skin elasticity, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and giving the skin a more youthful appearance.
2. Dull Skin and Uneven Skin Tone: Brightens the Skin: The increased blood circulation and oxygenation provide a healthy glow and improve overall skin radiance, making it ideal for dull or tired-looking skin. Evens Skin Tone: The mask can help improve uneven skin tone and reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark spots, leading to a more even complexion.
3. Acne and Acne Scars: Improves Acne: The mask can help to reduce acne inflammation by improving circulation and promoting detoxification. This can result in fewer breakouts over time. Controls Oil and Breakouts: By improving circulation and oxygenating the skin, carboxytherapy can help regulate oil production and reduce breakouts, making it a good option for acne-prone skin. Heals Acne Scars: The increased circulation and collagen stimulation also help to heal acne scars, improving skin texture and reducing the appearance of post-acne marks.
4. Dry and Dehydrated Skin: Hydrates the Skin: Carboxytherapy helps to deeply hydrate the skin by improving oxygenation and blood flow, leaving it feeling plump and moisturized.
5. Skin Sagging and Loss of Firmness: Tightens and Firms Skin: The increased oxygenation and collagen production promote skin elasticity, helping to tighten sagging skin and improve firmness, particularly beneficial for mature skin.
6. Puffiness and Dark Circles (Under Eyes): Reduces Puffiness: Carboxytherapy promotes better circulation, helping to reduce under-eye puffiness and improving the appearance of dark circles by stimulating lymphatic drainage.
7. Sensitive Skin and Rosacea: Reduces Redness and Inflammation: The soothing effects of the treatment can help reduce inflammation and redness associated with conditions like rosacea or other inflammatory skin issues.
8.Uneven Skin Texture: Smooths Skin Texture: Carboxytherapy can promote skin cell turnover and help improve skin texture, making it smoother and more even over time.
9.Post-Procedure Healing: Speeds Up Healing: After cosmetic procedures, the mask can accelerate skin healing by increasing oxygen and nutrient delivery to the skin, promoting faster recovery and less scarrin
10. Improves Skin Oxygenation: Helps increase the oxygen supply to the skin, promoting healthier and more radiant skin. Boosts Circulation: Enhances blood flow, which aids in the removal of toxins and improves overall skin tone and texture.
Combination treatments.
The intense barrier repair facial is a protocol combining the CO2 mask and LED therapy. At Kins we love getting the most out of every treatment and want the best results. By combining both of these treatments we can achieve an exaggerated skin rejuvenation result. Both treatments help healing and inflammation and are collagen and elastin boosting but through different methods. The ultimate TLC for your skin.
The CO2 mask can also be added to any invasive procedure to help skin recovery and minimise downtime.
Contraindications
1. Active Skin Infections: If you have any active skin infections (e.g., herpes simplex, bacterial infections, or fungal infections), the treatment may worsen the infection or irritate the affected area. Wait until the infection has healed before using the mask.
2. Open Wounds or Skin Damage: The CO2 Lift Pro face mask should not be applied to open wounds, cuts, or any areas with broken skin. This can cause irritation, delayed healing, or complications.
3. Severe Acne or Cystic Acne: If you have severe or cystic acne, it’s recommended to avoid the mask, as the increased blood circulation may exacerbate inflammation or cause further irritation to the skin.
4. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: The safety of CO2 Lift Pro treatments during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully studied, so it is generally recommended to avoid this treatment during these periods unless cleared by a healthcare professional.
5. Blood Clotting Disorders or Blood Thinners: People with blood clotting disorders or those taking blood-thinning medications (like aspirin, warfarin, or other anticoagulants) should avoid treatments that may increase the risk of bruising or bleeding.
