PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, has been used for years in regenerative medicine to help heal wounds faster by encouraging the growth of new tissue. It contains your own healing growth factors and stem cells. These incredible healing factors stimulate new collagen and new healthy tissue within your skin.

INJECTING PRP strengthens the skin surface and creates healthier skin. This removes the signs of skin damage like fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, scarring, uneven texture etc. It is particularly good at restrengthening areas that are prone to weakness from age and sun damage. (the under and upper eye area and he neck/decolletage). Your face will be red and swollen after the procedure. You may have some small bru around the eye area. As your own healing cells are ready and waiting to get to work most side effects subside within 48 hours.

  • A numbing cream is applied to your face while a vial of blood is drawn from your arm. The PRP is then extracted from your blood using a centrifuge machine. There is no risk of an allergic or adverse reaction as it is your own concentrated healing factors being used. This yellow plasma is then re injected back into particluar areas of skin weakness and damage.

  • A topical numbing cream is applied and left to settle for up to 45 minutes. This minimises any discomfort, you may feel slight discomfort at times but it is all very bearable.

You can use arnica gel post procedure to speed up recovery.

  • Results can be seen anywhere from 2-6 weeks and last approx. 1 year. The results are permanent but will require maintenance depending on your age and skin concerns - usually once yearly can suffice.

  • After 6 weeks we can reassess your skin to see if you would benefit from another session. A repeat session may be required for conditions like acne scarring or signs of severe collagen depletion and sun damage.
