Dermal Fillers

Fillers are used mainly to restore facial shape and volume loss.

Dermal fillers are one of the most popular aesthetic treatments available today. As our faces age, we tend to lose volume in a very predictable way, and our faces begin to sag, creating deep furrows, tear troughs, marionette lines and jowls start to form.

Dermal fillers work to replace this volume that has been lost using a variety of natural molecules that are usually in a gel form injected under the skin.

Dermal fillers are an excellent treatment for volume loss and deep lines and wrinkles with no downtime and instant results. Fillers are particulary effective for restoring lost volume throughout the entire face.

Hyaluronic acid occurs natuarlly in the body, keeping our skin hydrated. When dermal fillers are injected to replace the loss volume, not only do they help to hydrate the tissues but they also can be strategically placed under the skin in areas of predictable volume loss, to naturally restore the contours of the face in a subtle and gentle way. The body naturally turns over hyaluronic acid so over time the fillers are reabsorbed safely into the body.

  • Fillers are made of a naturally occurring substance called hyaluronic acid, which hydrates and plumps the skin by improving its ability to retain water. Over time, the body loses hyaluronic acid and the skin starts to sag and forms wrinkles and folds. Fillers replace the lost hyaluronic acid to restore volume and shape. The fillers are available in syringes and are gently injected into the areas of the face where they are needed.

  • Yes the procedure will have a small amount of discomfort, certain areas of the face may be more uncomfortable than others.

The level of discomfort vaires from patient to patient. Lidocaine (local anaesthetic) is within the filler and this helps to decrease the discomfort.
